What MBE certification means

NMSDC certification verifies that a business meets its minority ownership, management and control standards. It gives procurement teams an independent source for checking a supplier’s MBE status. It is separate from product testing, quality-system certification and your company’s supplier approval process. [2, 5]

Why it matters to corporate buyers

Documented supplier status

Our current certificate gives your supplier-diversity and procurement teams a clear record to review during onboarding and renewal. NMSDC corporate members can also use its verification services to check certification status and expiration. [1, 3, 4]

Support for your supplier-diversity program

If your organization recognizes NMSDC certification, working with a certified MBE can support its supplier-diversity sourcing goals. Your team determines whether a supplier and its purchases qualify under your own program rules.

More choices for competitive sourcing

NMSDC connects corporate buyers with verified minority-owned businesses. That creates another route for finding suppliers suited to a project’s technical and commercial requirements. Certification does not replace evaluation of quality, capacity, cost, delivery or fit. [2, 3]

Manufacturing capability comes first

COi supports OEMs with custom molded rubber and plastic components, rubber and plastic extrusion, rubber-to-metal bonding, tooling and engineering support. We can review your drawing, material, tolerances and estimated annual usage to discuss a practical production approach. [7]

Our manufacturing facility is IATF 16949 certified. MBE certification is a separate business designation. See our Documents page for the applicable certificates and their scope. [8]

Bring your engineering and supplier-diversity teams into the same conversation. We can discuss the component requirements and provide our current MBE certificate for your onboarding review.

Questions from purchasing teams

Does the buyer have to be minority-owned?

No. MBE certification describes the supplier. Large companies and other buying institutions can work with certified suppliers through their own purchasing processes. NMSDC corporate membership is a separate program with its own eligibility criteria. [2, 3]

Will purchases count toward our supplier-diversity goals?

Ask your supplier-diversity team to confirm which certifications, purchases and reporting methods your program accepts. We provide the current certificate; your organization decides how to classify and report the relationship.

Does certification guarantee a contract or special preference?

No. NMSDC says certification does not guarantee contracts, confer preferences or influence purchasing decisions. Buyers retain their own qualification and purchasing decisions. [2]

Is this the same as a government small-business or DBE certification?

No. This page documents COi’s NMSDC MBE certification only. It does not claim any separate government procurement designation. SCMSDC identifies DBE as a separate certification. [5]

How can we verify the certificate?

View the current certificate below. NMSDC corporate members may also use NMSDC verification tools. For program-specific acceptance questions, consult your procurement team or NMSDC. [1, 4]
